Liverpool went into the match against West Ham needing a response following their 1-1 draw against Leicester in midweek.

But, just over 24 hours after Manchester City had closed the gap at the summit to two points, the Reds fell short again.

Sadio Mane put Liverpool in front at the London Stadium, with the goal being awarded despite James Milner appearing to be offside in the build-up.

The Hammers were able to secure a point, however, after Michail Antonio levelled things up.

Speaking after the game, Klopp was in reflective mood.

But the Liverpool boss appeared unhappy with referee Friend, who he was seen deep in conversation with at the final whistle.

“It was a tough game,” Klopp said.

“You saw around the set-piece, we knew about the routine but when we trained we had three other players in the team.

“Apparently our goal was offside and maybe the referee knew that in the second half.

“It’s a point and it’s a fair point.
