The Golden State Warriors star will line up alongside James, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden on February 17.
On the opposite team, Giannis Antetokounmpo selected Steph Curry, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Kemba Walker and Khris Middleton.
The game takes place on Sunday February 17 at 8pm ET (1am GMT).
Last year’s game was the first to feature the draft selection, but it wasn’t televised, much to the annoyance of players and fans who wanted to see the selection unfold.
This year’s was the first to feature a televised draft, and provided great entertainment as Antetokounmpo poked fun at James for selecting Anthony Davis, asking if it was tampering, due to speculation linking Davis’ with a trade to the Lakers.
It didn’t take long before fans started to point out that every player selected by James, except Harden, will be free agents this summer.
But Durant brushed off those claims, and joked that Antetokounmpo had selected the worse team.
“Giannis is not from here, so I understand,” he said.
“Next year he’ll be better picking his team.
“For sure [we’re the best team], look who we’ve got on the team.
“No they don’t [have the better defensive team].”
Durant was then asked what he thought of James selecting him first, to which his answer was straight to the point.
“What else is he supposed to do?” he asked reporters, to a sea of laughter.
“I love the format, I think it’s cool.
“I think it’s good that the fans get more involvement.
“I saw it on TV the other day, seeing those guys pick the teams.
“It’s kind of self explanatory, but it’s pretty cool to see because it had never happened before.
“Wherever you get picked, it’s just respect. It’s good to be an all-star.”
