The 21 Celtic signings under Brendan Rodgers ranked and reviewed
Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester last month as the Scottish champions approached a historic treble-treble.
The Northern Irishman was loved by the Boys In Green fans, and focused on acquiring young players during his time in charge, which spanned from May 2016 to February 2019.
With a broad scouting network, Rodgers recruited many players on free transfers but also broke the club’s transfer record.
While many loaned players came and went, Express Sport breaks down the 21 permanent signings in Rodgers’ reign and ranks them from best to worst…
The 21 Celtic signings under Brendan Rodgers – ranked & reviewed
Odsonne Edouard (£9m from PSG) – 9/10
The club record signing, Edouard has settled into life at Celtic like a duck to water.
Thirteen goals and five assists in the league season reflect the 21-year-old’s talent – the main focus now is keeping hold of Rodgers’ best signing.

Scott Sinclair (£3m from Aston Villa) – 9/10
Sinclair plied his trade at 12 different clubs before his true calling at Parkhead, where his fee has won PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year as well as the double treble.
Twenty-one goals in his first season in Scotland sealed Rodgers his first league title, and the Englishman averages above one goal every three games on the wing.
Moussa Dembele (Free transfer) – 9/10
Dembele opted to join Celtic after leaving Fulham, and excelled in the Scottish Premiership, bagging 17 goals and eight assists in his first season.
That was backed up with eight goals and seven assists the following campaign, but Rodgers could not hold onto his starlet who left in bitter circumstances to Lyon for £19.7m last summer – a neat profit for the club.
Scott Bain (Free transfer) – 8/10
The stand-in keeper has excelled in Craig Gordon’s absence, keeping 10 clean sheets in 11 league games.

Kristoffer Ajer – (£540k from Start) – 7/10
Recruited as a teenage central midfielder, Ajer has flourished at centre-back, featuring regularly for the Hoops.

Toure joined Rodgers after the pair bonded at Liverpool, and the ageing Ivorian played occasionally during the 2016/17 domestic trouble. Now part of Rodgers’ backroom staff at Leicester.
Jonny Hayes (£1.3m from Aberdeen) – 6/10
Not a regular starter, but an absolute utility man for the Hoops. A valued squad player.

The Honduras international has proven an adequate stand-in at left-back, filling in 11 times in the league this term.
Dorus de Vries (Undisclosed from Nottingham Forest) – 5/10
Rarely gets game time as an ageing back-up goalkeeper but has done an apt job when called on.

Despite his relatively expensive fee, the Ivorian has not lived up to expectation and has suffered with injury – playing 22 games in three seasons.
Youssouf Mulumbu (Free transfer) – 4/10
The experienced midfielder is yet to have an impact on the pitch but is a source from which younger players can learn.

Struggled to establish himself in Glasgow amid loans back to St Mirren and Sunderland – must improve goal involvements.
Marvin Compper (£1m from RB Leipzig) – 2/10
The veteran centre-back struggled with match fitness but never received a league bow under Rodgers – and still hasn’t. Rodgers has previously taken responsibility for the flop signing.
