Herrera is understood to have agreed terms with French champions Paris Saint-Germain, leading to his departure.

“I can’t forget as well the victories at Anfield,” Herrera said, smiling.

“I know they are not trophies but they are trophies [in a different way] for the fans.

“The atmosphere the fans create every time we play at Anfield, seeing that corner full of United fans.

“I wasn’t able to score in that match and celebrate with them but that is something I always dreamed of.”

15.15 UPDATE: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told Ed Woodward that the signing of Bruno Fernandes this summer is FUNDAMENTAL.

Manchester United boss Solskjaer has been talking with Woodward about the club’s transfer plans for the summer window.

The 46-year-old is under no illusions when it comes to the size of the task facing him, with the Red Devils well behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City when it comes to the Premier League pecking order.

Solskjaer is keen to build a Manchester United side capable of challenging for the biggest and best honours in the game.

And the club have been heavily linked with a move for Fernandes, who has scored a stunning 31 goals across all competitions this season.

The Sporting Lisbon star is also on the radar of City, with Pep Guardiola a big admirer.

And Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that Solskjaer has stressed to Woodward and the United hierarchy that Fernandes is a fundamental signing.

12.50 UPDATE: Bad news for Arsenal

Arsenal may have to blow most of their transfer budget on Harry Maguire if he is to be their defensive lynchpin next season.

The Leicester centre-back is one of the Premier League’s most-coveted players with four of the top six chasing him.

The Sun claim, however, that he will cost a whopping £60m – which would represent most of Arsenal’s kitty even if they win the Europa League.

Leicester have decided on that fee due to Manchester City’s previous spends on Maguire’s England team-mates, John Stones and Kyle Walker.

Pogba wants out of Old Trafford so he can join Real Madrid, while Ander Herrera has confirmed he is on his way out of the club.

The Evening Standard reckon United are prepared for an overhaul, though, with Declan Rice of West Ham in their sights.

United also like the look of Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, Leicester loanee Youri Tielemans and Everton’s Idrissa Gueye.

10.25 UPDATE: Celtic update

Timothy Weah has sent a heartfelt message to Celtic fans and his former Parkhead team-mates after leaving Glasgow.

“To all my Celtic fans. I want to say thank you all for the undying support you have given me throughout my time with Celtic,” Weah wrote.

“I will be joining my National team to participate in the U20 World Cup in Poland. With this decision, the gaffer told me that it is in the best interest of the team that I collect my things and go home rather than be apart of the game on Sunday so I’ll be on my way.

“It was a true honor playing for this club and also having the opportunity to interact with legends who paved the way for us. As a young player, I feel it’s an important step in trying to advance myself.

“I still have a lot of growing to do in my game and I am especially thankful to the Celtic family for giving me the opportunity to show you all what I am capable of doing once given the chance. To you the fans, I will never forget you for all the love, support and kindness you have shown me.

“I don’t know as yet what the future holds but I wish to one day come back to this great club to be with you all. I will forever miss you chanting my name and hearing the beautiful song you have created for me.

“I also want to take this time to thank my wonderful teammates for supporting me every step of the way. It was really great playing with you all and sharing some really amazing moments that I’ll never forget . Thanks so much to Celtic FC and to you the fans for accepting me. God bless.”

Tottenham have lined up Harry Maguire as a possible replacement for defender Toby Alderweireld as the Belgian nears the exit door.

Alderweireld is expected to leave Spurs in the summer, when he will be available for just £25m due to a clause in his contract.

Tottenham have wasted no time in picking his successor in the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s defence.

The Sun reckon Tottenham want Leicester’s Maguire, although they face competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and possibly Chelsea.

Express Sport understands Ed Woodward is willing to sanction a mega-money move for the England international.

However, The Sun claim Sancho has decided to stick with Dortmund, where he’s enjoyed a staggering full breakout season.

Dortmund are still in with a shout of winning the Bundesliga title – something United are a way off replicating in the Premier League.

Manchester United are prioritising Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly as they look to bolster their defence, reports indicate.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to want a commanding centre-back to lead his defence when the 2019/20 campaign kicks off in August.

ESPN reckon a raid on Leicester is possible, with Maguire firmly in United’s sights as the transfer window approaches.

Napoli, though, could field interest from United too with Solskjaer also casting an admiring eye towards star man Koulibaly.

The north Londoners set up a final showdown with rivals Chelsea by beating Valencia 7-3 on aggregate.

Arsenal are understood to have £45m at their disposal at present, but that could go up to £70m.

08.05 UPDATE: Liverpool error

Liverpool may be left to rue not making the most of Daniel James being a Red if he heads to Manchester United.

Sky Sports reported on Friday that United are close to sealing a £15m move for the Swansea and Wales winger.

And that came 24 hours after White had revealed James is a boyhood fan of United’s fierce rivals Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has a host of attacking talent at Anfield, but not moving for James could come back to bit him.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has dropped a clue he could stay at Stamford Bridge amid interest from Real Madrid.

Real want Hazard to be part of their new-look team next season as they look to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona.

But, at Chelsea’s awards evening, Hazard hinted he could stay in west London rather than head for the Spanish capital.

A fan in the crowd shouted “Sign the contract!” and Hazard cheekily replied “Where’s the pen?”.

06.55 UPDATE: £30m Arsenal target

Arsenal can land Eric Bailly from Manchester United as long as the Red Devils recoup what they paid for him, it has been claimed.

Bailly has fallen out of favour and suffered with injuries having initially looked set to become a defensive lynchpin at United.

With a new centre-back though to be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wish list, he might find chances even harder to come by next season.

The Metro reckon Arsenal are ready to offer Bailly a route out of Old Trafford – however, United want £30m for the Ivory Coast international.

06.25 UPDATE: Man Utd SHOCK snub

Manchester United did not sign Matthijs de Ligt due to fears he could become fat later in his career, say reports.

De Ligt is one of the hottest properties in the world with a queue of elite clubs ready and waiting to get him on board.

United were among them last summer as Jose Mourinho looked to bolster his leaky defence with a rising star.

However, the Mirror claim United pulled the plug on a potential deal because chief scout Marcel Bout had previously flagged up concerns the Ajax ace would lose his pace by becoming overweight.
