Manchester City retained their Premier League title ahead of Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola’s men hammered Brighton 4-1 on Sunday to win consecutive titles.

The Reds beat Wolves 2-0 on the last day of the season, however, Liverpool fell just short in their hunt for a first Premier League title.

United had to watch their two arch rivals battle it out for the Premier League title, much to the frustration of the Old Trafford faithful.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men finished sixth, with United and Arsenal missing out on the top four.

Chelsea and Tottenham secured the final Champions League spots alongside City and Liverpool.

At the bottom of the table, Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff were relegated to the Championship.

United’s struggles were on show all season, however, an alternative Premier League table based on expected goals is better reading for Red Devils fans.

The table is based on expected goals, which then turns into expected points to predict the final standings.

The alternative table, from Understat.com, claims United should have finished fourth, behind Chelsea, Liverpool and City.

Tottenham should have ended up in fifth, with Wolves surprisingly in sixth ahead of Arsenal.
