Roger Federer progressed through to the last 16 after a straight sets win over Joao Sousa in the last round earlier on Thursday.

He is having to play two matches in one day after torrential rain on Wednesday.

The Italian Open is Federer’s second clay court tournament of the season with the Swiss star playing on the surface for the first time in three seasons.

And the 20-time Grand Slam winner believes his earlier match may give him an advantage over Coric.

“I think it gives me some good information and I believe it is going to be similar conditions this afternoon,” Federer said.

“The interesting thing is I played today, is that an advantage? Is it a disadvantage?

“Borna is tough. I lost a couple of times to him last year.

“Regardless of the surface I know it is going to be tough.”

Coric was last in action Tuesday an here is how you can watch him face Federer.
