Manchester United are on their way to Australia for the first leg of their pre-season tour – and Paul Pogba made it through passport control after fears he would miss the flight as he looks to secure a move away from the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad will play two matches Down Under, before heading to Singapore.
They face Perth Glory on July 13, followed by rivals Leeds United on July 17 as they look to get in condition for a big campaign.
Solskjaer revealed the travelling squad this morning, and the most notable addition was Pogba, who only returned to Carrington this morning.
Pogba has been angling for a move away from Old Trafford since the end of the season.
The World Cup winner wants a new challenge, and it’s believed he wants to be playing in the Champions League next season with either Real Madrid or Juventus.
Last month he said: “Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well.
“For me I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well…
“I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
And his agent Mino Raiola admitted he was working on a deal to seal a transfer last week.
But Pogba made the flight, and despite his sour-looking face, and will make the trip to Australia.
His team-mate Lingard posted pictures and video footage from inside the plane on his Instagram account showing a lounge area for the players.
There are United club scarves and neck pillows lying around, as well as a selection of magazines for the long flight ahead.
Lingard also took pictures with teammates ahead of the flight, including youngsters Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.
Meanwhile some new faces to the United squad, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, were seen mixing with their new team-mates.
Wan-Bissaka was bought from Crystal Palace for £50m this summer, while James joined from Swansea for a deal worth £15m.
But, they’ll be thrown straight in at the deep end as Solskjaer plans to put his entire squad through their paces over the next few weeks.
“It’s been great coming back,” said Solskjaer. “Obviously the boys have worked hard and I think they would feel like it isn’t just over halfway through the first week – I think they will feel like it’s been a couple of weeks because they have grafted and done well.
“We’ve got six weeks until the league starts so we can’t take it easy.
“They’ve all had their individual programmes and are in good shape from day one, so we’ve put them through their paces.”
