Teuns wins stage six as defending champion Thomas attacks rivals late on

Dylan Teuns won the first mountain stage of the 2019 Tour de France as Geraint Thomas attacked his general classification rivals late on to finish fourth on the day.

Teuns broke Giulio Ciccone on a brutal final climb to win by 11 seconds, but Ciccone did take the yellow jersey from Julian Alaphilippe by six seconds.

Alaphilippe mounted a late attack to finish fourth overall.

But he was passed by defending champion Thomas, who is now up to fifth.
