Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has hinted at a busy January transfer window.

Pochettino saw his side shocked in the Carabao Cup as League Two side Colchester United dumped Spurs out of the competition.

The Premier League giants could not find a way through in 90 minutes and it went to penalties. Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura both missed in the shootout to send Colchester through.

Pochettino has regularly hinted that he is not overly happy with his squad following a relatively quiet summer transfer window.

And the Argentine has now suggested there will be an overhaul in January as Spurs look to build on last season’s Champions League final.

“It is [tough] because we have the experience in football and the feelings in pre-season I told you,” Pochettino said.

“Now it’s about arriving in a difficult situation and we need to recover the time we lost in pre-season.

“Maybe our performances are good, but it’s about having a different agenda and we need to build that togetherness.

“We are working so hard to put everyone on the same page. Only we need time.

“January is going to be a good opportunity too to fix this situation and the next one.

“That is the problem when something happens that you cannot control.

“It means we are human and in football to keep the successful period in football you need to be different every season and find different solutions.

“We need to do something different and we will do that.”

Pochettino’s relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has appeared strained at times.

The pair had clear-the-air talks last month after Pochettino had publicly expressed his grievance at not being privy to transfer decisions.

“We needed to have a conversation last week and this week it was the same,” Pochettino said at the time.
