Tributes have been paid to a 25-year-old mother who was stabbed to death after an “altercation” involving two vehicles.
Mother-of-two Levi Davis died in Rushden, Northamptonshire on Saturday and it is understood police are looking into reports she was trying to break up a fight at the time she was killed.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a second man aged 27 is being held on suspicion of the attempted murder of the murder suspect.
A 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been released and will face no further action, Northamptonshire Police said.
Tributes to Ms Davis have been posted on her Facebook page, which says she previously worked for the British Army and was a support staff member at Leonard Cheshire Disability.
One person wrote: “RIP Davis girl you was one in a million. You didn’t deserve this. Fly high beautiful. Thoughts are with your family and your babies.”
Another woman added: “Not fair you were taken way to soon. [And] in our home town as well. Girl you’ll get justice.”
Another added: “RIP beautiful girl.”
A woman visiting the scene to lay flowers told the Northamptonshire Telegraph that their daughters were in the same class.
The woman said: “She was just always smiling and laughing and had such a good sense of humour and she was a brilliant mum.
“I felt I had to come up, we’ve only known each other for 18 months but we used to spend a lot of time together in the school holidays. It’s so sad.”
Superintendent Dennis Murray said the victim was stabbed and died at the scene after an “altercation” when two vehicles stopped at the junction of Wellingborough Road and St George’s Way in Rushden at about 8.30pm on Saturday.
“We do know that those two vehicles were involved in some sort of ongoing altercation driving along the road,” Supt Murray said.
He added: “My understanding from what we know so far is everyone involved in this incident knew each other. I do not believe at this time that it was a random attack but we remain open-minded.”
Supt Murray said the two vehicles involved in the incident were a black Volkswagen Polo and a white Vauxhall “van-type vehicle” and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He also confirmed the 13-year-old boy arrested over the incident had been “ruled out of the inquiry” and released with no further action.
