Ed Woodward vs Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would have no problem sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim Woodward ‘told senior club figures’ that he wouldn’t hesitate to axe the Norwegian tactician.

Woodward has hired and fired three managers since he replaced David Gill as Old Trafford powerhouse in 2013 with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho all being shown the door.

And The Mirror claim won’t let sentiment get in the way despite Solskjaer’s popularity and legendary status at the club.

“There is a situation at the club that I do not comment on,” Galtier told L’Equipe. “In seasons, there can be tension between a player and his club. We’ll settle this internally and find a solution.

Mario Pasalic to Atalanta

Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic is poised to join Atalanta on a permanent basis.

Pasalic, 25, joined Chelsea from Hajduk Split for £3million in 2014 but has never made a senior appearance for the Stamford Bridge club.

The 12-capped Croatia international joined Serie A side Atalanta for the 2018/2019 campaign and again for the current season with an option to purchase at the end of the spell.

The Guardian claim Pasalic has sufficiently impressed in Italy and Atalanta have now agreed to take up the £12.5million option to buy clause.

Wanted: Chris Smalling

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly made an approach to sign Chris Smalling.

Roma are keen to keep hold of the former England international next year but to do so they will have to finish in the top four of the Serie A table.

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, United are demanding £16.5million (€20m) for the defender.

The figure is expected to total £33m (€40m) when wages are added but that would be too expensive for Roma without Champions League football.

Tottenham and Everton would be willing to stump up the cash and Mourinho has apparently already begun the first steps to getting the deal over the line.

Martin Braithwaite to Barcelona

Barcelona are set to sign former Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele.

The Catalan giants have 15 days to complete a deal during the emergency transfer window.

Despite the regular transfer window being closed, Spanish clubs are able to sign a replacement from other La Liga clubs for any player injured for longer than five months.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona set their sights on Braithwaite after La Liga granted them permission to sign a replacement for Dembele who has been ruled out for six months after undergoing surgery on a hamstring tear last week.

Braithwaite scored nine goals in 40 games for Middlesbrough in an inconsistent spell on Teeside that saw the Danish international loaned out to Bordeaux and Leganes after falling out of favour with Tony Pulis.
