Sebastian Vettel has reportedly been offered a contract extension on his multi-million contract, but he will have to accept a “drastic” pay-cut. Vettel signed a three-year contract with Ferrari back in 2017 worth a reported £90million.

But he has struggled in those three years to mount a serious challenge to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes with Ferrari unable to find a car capable of competing on a regular basis.

There was some more optimism about their chances heading into the 2020 season, but they were far from impressive in pre-season testing.

The 2020 calendar has since bene suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the first race back potentially being the Canadian Grand Prix.

For Vettel, he will no doubt be keen to get back behind the wheel after finishing behind Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc in the Drivers’ Championship last season.
