BREAKING: ‘MASS SHOOTING’ in Australia with seven people killed – Police rush to scene

    Chris Dawson, a Western Australia Police commissioner, stated the event was a “clear tragedy”.

    He went on: “Police are currently responding to what I can only describe as an horrific incident in Osmington, 20km north-east of Margaret River.

    “At about 5.15am this morning, police were called to a rural property on the outskirts of this property at Margaret River.

    “Based on what we do know, this is clearly a tragedy.

    Commissioner Dawson added “two firearms” were located at the scene.

    He went on: “Upon arrival, police located seven persons deceased. Four children and three adults.

    “The bodies of two adults were located outside, five bodies were located inside a building on the rural property.

    “Two firearms have been located at the scene.

    “We are trying to locate other members of the family and friends.

    “I’m not in a position to release any further details about the identities of the deceased.

    “This devastating tragedy will no doubt have a lasting impact on the families concerned, the whole community and, in particular, the local communities in our south-west.”

    It is understood the incident took place at Margaret River on Thursday evening.

    Police were called to a building in Osmington just after 5am on Friday morning.

    Specialist units from Perth have been called to the incident, including the Homicide Squad and Forensic Crime Scene Unit.

    Paramedics have not been called to the scene, a spokesman told the Daily Mail.

    Police have emphasised there is no danger to the public.

    Next of kin have not yet been notified – authorities are attempting to locate family members and friends.

    Commissioner Dawson added the telephone call that reported the incident had been recorded.
