Buffalo Bills CB takes Uber from Chicago to Buffalo to make OTAs

Breaking

June 7 (UPI) — Veteran Buffalo Bills cornerback Shareece Wright knows that OTAs aren’t really voluntary if you want to stay in favor of coaches. He showed that with an Uber trip to Buffalo.

Wright was at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Sunday night when he began the trip. He missed his connecting flight to New York and had to be at team meetings at 7 a.m. the next morning.

He picked up an Uber, taking an eight-hour, 550-mile ride to Orchard Park, N.Y. for the Bills’ OTAs Monday.

“For me it was no question that I had to make it here,” Wright told the team website. “I actually had a redeye booked and I ended up changing that flight and taking an earlier flight to the 2:30 [p.m.] flight just to give myself some margin for error just in case something happened.”

The trip set Wright back $632.08. He tipped the driver $300, according to his representative, Tamerat Berhe.

Wright tried to get another flight Sunday, but there were none available to get him to his destination on time. He ended up arriving in Orchard Park at 6:57 a.m.

“For me it was no question that I had to make it here,” Wright said. “I actually had a redeye booked and I ended up changing that flight and taking an earlier flight to the 2:30 [p.m.] flight just to give myself some margin for error just in case something happened.”

Defensive backs coach Gil Byrd told Wright that the journey took “tremendous dedication,” according to Wright.

Wright signed a one-year deal with the Bills in May. He was cut by the Balitmore Ravens in March.
