New York Mets place RHP Matt Harvey, 2B Neil Walker on disabled list

New York starting pitcher Matt Harvey and second baseman Neil Walker both were placed on the 10-day disabled list with the expectation that they will miss several weeks, the team announced Thursday.

Harvey was diagnosed with a stress injury to the scapula bone in his right shoulder. That may be why his velocity was down while giving up four runs and four hits in four innings in Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

“My arm was just not working at all,” Harvey said after Wednesday’s game.

He had a rib removed last year during surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.

The Mets said Harvey received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will begin rehab until pain-free.

He is 4-3 with a 5.25 ERA this season.

Walker was diagnosed with a partially torn hamstring, an injury he suffered Wednesday while trying to beat out a bunt.

He also received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will start rehab immediately
