SAUDI Arabia air defences have destroyed a ballistic missile over the city of Jazan near the Yemen border, it has emerged.
Yemen’s Houthis declared they had fired a missile at an airport in the city earlier on Al-Masariah TV, a Yemeni TV channel founded and owned by the Ansarullah movement.
Jazan is located in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia’s air defence announced on Saturday it had intercepted another ballistic missile.
A spokesman for the Arab coalition, Colonel Turki Al Malki, declared the interception took place at 6.14pm Riyadh time (3.14pm GMT).
He added: “The Saudi Royal Air Defence Forces spotted another missile that landed in an uninhabited desert.
“Thankfully there were no reports of any damage until the time this statement was issued.”
Colonel Malki blamed “Houthi terrorist groups” for the incident.
He said: “This hostile action by the Houthi terrorist group supported by Iran proves the Iranian regime’s sustained involvement in supporting the Houthis with material capabilities.”
