A plane has crashed at Kathmandu international airport in Nepal. Pictures have emerged showing the wreckage of the aircraft. Around 70 people were reportedly onboard the ill-fated flight.
The plane – said to belong to US-Bangla, a Bangladeshi airline – reportedly came down on the east side of Tribhuvan International Airport’s runway. According to the latest information from airport officials, there were 67 people aboard the crashed aircraft – 17 of whom were rescued, Reuters reports.
Local journalists speaking to Wion TV reported the airplane, which was traveling from Bangladesh to Nepal, skidded off the runway before catching fire and crashing in a nearby football field. No deaths have been announced so far, but an airport spokesman earlier told the Kathmandu Post that casualties are expected.
