Azaan Ledbetter, the junior varsity quarterback, has been promoted to varsity, while Abdelghani’s backup, Filip Bradzil, has been moved to junior varsity. Ledbetter, a sophomore, has played one game at varsity this year, rushing once for a yard.
Abdelghani exited the game against the Padres after going 2-for-11 for 21 yards and an interception, taking a sack and running for a net -1 yards. Bradzil went 6-for-9 passing for 65 yards and threw one interception in relief. He also rushed five times for a yard, taking two sacks.
On the season, Abdelghani is 54-for-137 for 952 yards, with 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He’s the team’s second-leading rusher (223 yards on 58 carries), behind Jalen Cmap (415 yards on 94 carries). Bradzil has gone 9-for-19 on the year for 78 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions.
Riordan (0-6, 0-3 in WCAL) will face one of the top teams in the league in the Lancers (5-1, 3-0).
With that defense, the Lancers have shut out Sacred Heart Cathedral and held Valley Christian to just three points in back-to-back weeks. On the season, St. Francis has allowed more than 10 points only twice this season, including once in their only loss — a 33-15 defeat at the hands of Concord-De La Salle on Sept. 7.
